It’s been a very tough 18 months for people not being able to visit friends or family due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s important to our health and wellbeing to feel connected to others.
If you would like to join others on a local walk in Hounslow visit our community health walks page.
If you are feeling cut off from other people and would like some support there are some great resources on the Let’s Talk Loneliness website.

Social connections are really important. Watch this short video from Every Mind Matters on how you can improve your social connections.
Well-known charity Mind also has a local website for people in Hounslow and surrounding boroughs with information on things you can do to look after your mental wellbeing.
If you are experiencing anxiety and feeling like you need support then The West London Trust Single Point of Access (SPA) is a 24/7 helpline which provides telephone-based support and access to urgent care and treatment for people in a mental health crisis.
MECC LINK also has both local and national organisations who are able to support adults, parents and children and young people needing support.

An important way to understand how we are feeling is to assess our mood. The NHS web page on mindfulness has useful tips such as taking the mood assessment test, doing yoga, tai chi, breathing exercise or taking up meditation.
Another excellent resource is the Good Thinking website which has many approved mental health apps such as mindfulness courses for looking after your wellbeing, reducing stress and anxiety.

Unfortunately for many people there are financial uncertainties during these times which are worrying and stressful. The mental health and money advice website provide helpful advice, information and signposting for support.
Beware of scams relating to money through unprotected websites, unidentified telephone calls or text messages and phishing emails. Don’t share your bank details and credit card details if you don’t know the person or the company contacting you.
If you are concerned about your mental health then why not try the Mind Plan tool. The Mind Plan tool provides simple actions you can take to help you to improve your mental health.
