It is normal to feel anxiety in some situations in life and some people experience anxiety more than others.  There are times though when we can feel overwhelmed with anxiety and so we need to find productive ways of working with the anxiety we feel.

Possible causes of anxiety

There are many different possible causes of anxiety and sometimes it can be hard to know exactly why we feel anxious.  Here are some of the main causes of anxiety:

  • Negative thoughts relating to yourself, those around you or the wider world
  • Bullying
  • Experiences from early on in life
  • Problems with relationships
  • Picking up anxious behaviour from someone close to us
  • Work stress
  • Debt

The above are just some examples of what might be causing us to feel anxious.  It could just be there are lots of things on our mind and we can’t quite pin down what is causing us to feel anxious.
